Announcing Our Rebrand: A New Look, A Clearer Mission

Accounting firms today are under relentless pressure: do more with fewer people, all while using systems that weren’t built for the world we’re in now. For years, the default answer has been to “improve workflow.” But that only gets you so far when the real bottleneck is upstream — buried under manual intake, client follow-up, and file prep that stalls returns before they even begin.

We built Soraban to solve that problem. And today, we’re proud to share a new chapter for our brand — one that reflects where we’re going and the category we’re committed to leading.

Why We’re Rebranding

When we launched Soraban, we knew the biggest drag on capacity wasn’t the work itself — it was everything that came before it. Missing documents. Unstructured data. Endless emails. Manual cleanup. The part no one wanted to touch, and traditional workflow software ignored.

That’s where we focused: building the system that does the work before the work. From collecting client docs to organizing usable workpapers, Soraban automates the intake process so tax teams can start clean, stay organized, and focus on what really matters.

Our rebrand reflects that evolution — not just in our look, but in how we define the category.

Workflow is table stakes. Capacity is the future.
– Enoch Ko, Founder of Soraban

The Layer Everyone Missed

Other systems track work, maybe move it around for you. Soraban does it. We gather and organize client submissions automatically, identify missing items for the client instantly, and turn chaos into structure. No more chasing clients or combing through folders. No more bottlenecks in busy season.

We also:

- Automate file naming and validation

- Keep audit trails and document histories in one place

- Centralize communication and signatures

- Adjust dynamically to each client’s situation

The result? More capacity. Less overhead. Happier teams. Better client service.

Our Story

This company started with a simple conversation. A friend who was a CPA shared the day-to-day chaos inside a typical firm. I was a software engineer at the time — and what I heard sounded fixable. So I dove in, studied the field, even started my own tech-enabled firm.

It didn’t take long to feel the same pain: constant interruptions, high overhead, and not enough time left for strategy or client service. I realized we didn’t need another checklist — we needed a better foundation.

So I shut the firm down and built Soraban in 2021 with a clear mission: remove the operational drag that holds firms back, so accountants can get back to doing the work they love.

Honoring the Craft

Our name, Soraban, is inspired by soroban, the Japanese word for abacus — one of the original accounting tools. It’s a nod to the profession’s history and a reminder that good tools matter.

Everything we build is guided by that mindset: thoughtful design, customer obsession, and solving the tax workflow problems no one else wants to deal with. And our new visual identity? It’s cleaner, more connected, and — yes — subtly inspired by the structure of the abacus. But we’ll let the design speak for itself.

What’s Next

The new Soraban is live today across our site and social platforms. For current customers, we’ll roll out product updates after the next tax season — we know how critical stability is during peak times.

We’re excited about what’s ahead. If you’re looking to grow your firm without adding headcount, we’d love to show you what capacity-first tax workflow tools really looks like.

Thanks for being part of the journey.
